Hope Child

Hi Everyone,

Before I say anything, I just want to send out our most sincere thanks to all of you for being so warm, loving, and supportive. Thank you. We appreciate every bit of it.

As you may know, every year I channel my love for music into the annual "Summer Guide" mix. This year was Summer Guide 10.

Upon hearing the news of Gabrielle, I received this email from a dear friend:

I have been thinking of you all constantly since I heard the news yesterday. In all honestly, I have been thinking of you both for the past two weeks, partly because I knew the due date was approaching, and partly because I LOVE Summerguide 10 and have been listening to it non-stop.

My heart broke a little yesterday when I saw your precious little girl in the incubator, as I know this is not the way a birth story should unfold. Then today on my drive home, I was chanting a healing chant for Gabrielle (it is a sanskrit mantra that goes: Ra Ma Da Sa; Sa Say So Hung). And after a while of that I turned on some music, only to have Hope Child (aka Track 1 on Summer Guide) come on. As the song was playing, the sun broke through the clouds in such a way that there was this beautiful illumination of a pathway and I was struck by such a profound sense of hope and love and beauty that I can only somewhat convey what this moment held for me. And as I sit here now, I know that Gabrielle is full of all that light and beauty and strength and hope.

While I tried sending this video as an email attachment, it was too big. So I just made this instead. Amy and I have no plans of blogging about this; this is just to share the video.

So, please enjoy 4 minutes of our beautiful little daughter, basking in the sunshine for the first time in her life. She's already been one of the greatest gifts we've ever received.

p.s. I recommend viewing with good speakers, the volume up, no distractions, and in full screen view (bottom right).

p.s.s. the band's name is Free Energy, the song is "Hope Child" ... they rock
